Summary

David and Marlon go to David’s home. David talks briefly about his parents, who are politically liberal and generally miserly, except for any requests made by Benno. They bond over the Celtics and play outside with a basketball. David is pleased when Marlon calls him by his “Green,” which is David’s “emcee name” (53). Benno comes outside with a camcorder to film them playing basketball. David thinks about the fact that Benno has been bullied so many times for his eccentricities, and despite the emotional hardship of the bullying, he has never wavered in his eccentric choices. Marlon does not tease Benno. That Saturday, David and Marlon go to Kevin’s house for a big sleepover party that Kevin is holding.
