Summary

In Chapter 15, spring quickly turns to summer and summer to fall at Lake Hazen, and Augustine realizes that he has been fooling himself. He is still going to die, and he still needs to look out for Iris. He enters the weather station and begins using the radio to scan for transmissions. The snow and ice returns, and Augie believes he sees polar bear footprints. He has fallen asleep at the radio when he suddenly hears a woman's voice.

In Chapter 16, Sully has isolated herself in the communications hub on Aether. She has lost her connection with a probe she left on one of Jupiter's moons. They are nearing the International Space Station (ISS) where the crew will dock Aether and use the station's escape pod to return to Earth. Harper invites Sully to play cards, and she refuses. She is feeling depressed...
