Chapter 17 Summary

Cannie borrows a wedding and engagement ring from Maxi and makes an appointment to see her father using a fake name. He is surprised to see her. Cannie is angry at him and demands to know why he left and did not tell anyone where he was. Dr. Shapiro says he did not think they wanted to know and that he has nothing to give. He walks away from Cannie.

Cannie calls Samantha to tell her what happened and lets her know she is coming home. She flies to Newark International Airport, where she sees Bruce for the first time since she sent him the letter. He is holding hands with a girl who Cannie assumes is his new girlfriend. Bruce comes over to apologize for not calling. He says that with his father's.....
