Summary

After the Chinese repairman leaves, Kim calls an African American repairman to fix the oven. He will not take Ma’s money, and Kim thinks that she would have liked to have a man like that as her father.

Meanwhile, Matt drops out of high school, so he can work full-time. He is working longer hours at the factory than Ma or Kim. He and Vivian are still dating, and sometimes she waits for him at the factory. One day, when Matt is gone, some boys start teasing Park, calling him a “white disease.” Eventually, Matt comes to his brother’s rescue and tells off the boys. Kim tells Matt that Vivian tried to tell the boys to leave Park alone, but Matt does not believe her.

Kim is still tutoring Curt, and he invites her to a party that his parents are letting...
