Summary

Kim and Annette are assigned a school project, so Kim goes to Annette's house for the first time. Kim meets Annette's mother, Mrs. Avery, and her brother. The Averys live in a beautiful neighborhood, closet to the school. The house is three stories and very nice. Annette has her own room, and the family has a dog and a cat. Together, the girls make a diorama for class using materials that are well-organized in Annette's room. After, Mrs. Avery offers to drop Kim off at home, but Kim insists that Annette's mother just drop her by the school. Mrs. Avery invites Kim over for dinner, and after they say their goodbyes, Kim worries that Mrs. Avery watched her walk home. The next time Annette invites Kim over, her mother makes her turn down the offer, convinced that if Kim spent so much time there...
