Chapter 13 Summary

From that point on, rumors fly around school that Russel is the gay kid Ms. Toles was talking about in her article interview. Russel asks Brian if he can sit down at his table for lunch. Brian asks if the rumor is true and Russel says it's true that he's gay but not that he is the one Ms. Toles was talking about. In talking to Brian, Russel also realizes that Brian has a stutter. Russel apologizes for the part he played in teasing Brian with the other jocks, but it seems as if Brian isn't quite sure what he's talking about.

After school, Russel crouches behind the dumpster he knows Kevin passes on his way to baseball practice. He tries to talk to Kevin and convince him to meet him at the gazebo that night or the next night. Kevin tells Russel...
