Days Colored Black. Malcolm punishes six-year-old Mal for playing the piano after he told him not to, causing Alicia to look down on Olivia for not protecting her child better. When Christopher turns three, Alicia throws a child-friendly party that Olivia believes will upset Malcolm, but she is surprised to find him treating Alicia with partiality, as though drawn to her like the children for whom the party was thrown.
