Chapter 11: The Damsel of Distress

The next day, Max and Freak take off for Loretta Lee's residence which, as it turns out, is in the New Tenements, which has come to be known as the New Testaments. Gram has forbidden Max to ever set foot in that neighborhood. However, Freak convinces him that it is okay to disobey if it is for the sake of a quest. They find their way to the tenements which are crumbling and in disarray.

They locate the chain-smoking, harsh Loretta Lee. When she opens the door to find the strange sight of little Freak on top of large Max, she calls to her husband, Iggy, who is inside. Max recognizes Iggy as the leader of a rugged motorcycle gang and both he and Freak become frightened, telling Loretta and Iggy they have the wrong address...
