Summary

This final section of the novel begins with Neptune noticing Fish Girl and Livia swimming together in the water tank. He interrupts them and orders Livia to leave. Livia threatens to call someone, because she claims that Neptune is keeping Fish Girl as a “prisoner” (152). Neptune threatens Livia to stop her from exposing him, and Livia leaves saying goodbye to Fish Girl, calling her by her new name, Mira. Neptune is surprised that Livia gave Fish Girl a name, and he begins to reprimand Fish Girl. Soon, a storm causes wind to open the windows, and Neptune begins to plan ways to keep Fish Girl hidden. While Neptune is plotting, Fish Girl climbs atop a rock and transforms into a human. Neptune sees this, and exclaims “NO!” (158).
