Summary

Pages 1 – 27 highlight the events of the first day at the aquarium. The first couple of pages contain full-page images of the ocean, and the third page has an image of a pier on the beach, upon which this novel takes place. The aquarium, Ocean Wonders, stands atop this pier, and it has a large sign indicating the fact that “the mysterious” Fish Girl resides inside (3). The first-person narration begins on page 3, where the narrator introduces himself as Neptune. He lauds the exhibits contained within Ocean Wonders, and leads up to a description of Fish Girl, a mermaid who lives in an underwater bedroom (6). She is advertised as a mysterious creature. After waving his trident and causing a spectacle of crashing waves in the aquarium, Neptune reminds the customers to buy some merchandise.
