Book 2: Chapter 10 Summary

The group paddle through the Pillars and Aragorn leads them to the right arm of the River. The Company draws their boats up to the shore of The Lawn of Parthgalen, a park like place with gentle rolling hills that Aragorn knows well from his youth. The group will camp here for the night. There is no sign of Gollum still following them.

During Frodo's watch, Aragorn is very restless and cannot sleep, because he feels a shadow is on him. Frodo asks him what is wrong and Aragorn asks him to draw his sword Sting. Sting glows faintly blue on it's edges which tells Aragorn that Orcs are near, not on their side of the River, but on their way. Aragorn knows that they must leave at once.
