Book 1: Chapter 8 Summary

The Hobbits sleep well on this, their last night with Tom and Goldberry. No noises disturb them and they all wake refreshed and eat breakfast without the couple and make ready to leave. Their ponies are also refreshed and anxious to go. The Hobbits ride off down the path away from the house waving goodbye to Tom Bombadil. Suddenly Frodo stops short, he had forgotten to say goodbye to Goldberry, he turns to go back, but as he does he hears a voice calling to them from above. Goldberry beckons to them, she tells them to go north with the wind and keep to their purpose, and make haste while it is daylight. Goldberry tells Frodo a special goodbye, calling him an Elf friend and that she is glad to have.....
