Chapters 16-19 Summary

Chapter 16. Angie sleeps late the next day. Hank has already taken Jason to work and after getting dressed, Angie takes the elevator downstairs, determined to confront Mrs. Bittner with what Mike told her. She hears what sounds like an argument between Hank and Trudy coming from the kitchen, and stops outside the door to listen. She hears Hank say that if "this whole thing" comes out it will be them who go to jail while "she" gets off free as a bird. He says he is tempted to just walk away, but Trudy says that after all the years they have kept quiet they deserve something, and that "she" promised a big payoff at the end of the year if they just remain patient.
