Evvie’s House

Evvie’s house is a symbol of her connection to Tim. Evvie feels drowned in the memories of her cruel late husband in the house she shared with him. This leads her to sell the house and buy one of her own at the end of the novel.

Tim Drake

Tim Drake represents Evvie’s fear of truly expressing herself. Throughout their relationship, Tim manipulated Evvie into toning down her personality and hiding her feelings from others. Therefore, after he dies, Evvie still feels tied to these discrete tendencies.
