Summary

The next part called “Winter” began with Chapter 13. Evvie spent an evening with Andy’s daughters while Andy went out with Dean after an article was published about Dean’s failure. In Chapter 14, Evvie heard Dean start his truck at 2 a.m. She followed him all the way to the baseball field, called Dacey Park, where he was practicing pitching and cursing at his lack of success. Evvie confronted him about it and Dean insisted that he did not want to discuss it. They went home. Evvie felt convinced that she could help Dean. In Chapter 15, Evvie went to a therapist, Dr. Jane Talco, to ask her about Dean. Dr. Talco wanted to talk about Evvie instead, so she left.
