When the poltergeist comes to Sam's apartment to search for the falcon statue, he leaves behind apport, or small stones, wherever he touched something.

Lodestone

A lodestone is a powerful place that is naturally grounded in the beyond. Pilar uses the lodestone at Dunstan Moor to force Clare and Sam to cross into the beyond and retrieve the Jilin God.

Astral Projection

Astral projection is the ability of the spirit to leave the body and move freely through space and time. Elfs have this ability, but because Sam is only half elf she cannot control when it happens to her.

Sam is mistakenly given a falcon statue while in an antique store. This falcon statue turns out to be the Jilin God hidden underneath a cheap falcon statue.
