Prologue and Chapters 1-3 Summary

Prologue. Paen Scott is a vampire who is more than two hundred years old. Paen was born without a soul because his parents were not joined, a vampire to his beloved, when he was born. Paen is very good looking, therefore he does not have a hard time finding female companionship. However, Paen is not interested in a committed relationship even though finding his beloved, his soul mate, and being joined to her, is the only way he can restore his soul. For this reason, Paen avoids women even though his three brothers are often playing matchmaker for him.

Paen is in his library at the family home in Scotland when a demon, Caspar, appears. Caspar tells Paen that his father used the services of the demon Oriens to help him find his beloved. The search was...
