Section 6: Chapter 9 Summary

Enna makes three promises to prevent herself from making Leifer's mistakes: never to tell a soul, not to burn a living person and not to burn big. After sewing the vellum into her skirt, she rides into Eylbold and sets fire to a tent. Upon returning to Ostekin, she encounters Razo, lying that she was on a scouting mission. When Isi mentions returning to the capital in three days, Enna refuses to leave Ostekin until she has done her part, lying that she is still in mourning for Leifer. Enna returns to Eylbold several nights, but she feels she is accomplishing nothing. When she is forced to burn a Tiran in Eylbold, she feels guilty for breaking her second promise.
