Part 2, Topside: Pages 13-19 Summary

Chapter 13. Unknown. Deuce and Fade go to a platform in the tunnel that Fade says has an exit to the topside, but when they try to make their way through the gates, they are blocked by a landslide. They decide to go to the Burrowers, assuming they would know a way out. The leader of the Burrowers, Jengu, agrees but demands some sort of payment for his people. Deuce gives him a small mirror she had been given by her mother. They rest again in the storeroom and then follow Jengu down a long tunnel to a ladder that he says leads topside. When they arrive topside, Deuce is overwhelmed by the amount of space offered by the sky and must keep her gaze downward to keep from becoming fearful and sick. They immediately begin to look...
