The morning reveals hundreds of prisoners on the field. At the goal posts are parked more than fifty luxury American cars. Mr. Maxted barely breathes and Jim wipes the flies from his mouth and eyes. Jim can barely hold his own head still or focus his eyes. On shaky legs, Jim stands to look for his parents' Packard wondering where the chauffeurs are.
