Summary

In Chapter 26, Ellena stops and Rowan discovers that her father is in the room. Rowan is torn about his presence. She feels a sense of comfort because he “symbolizes Mom, and Ash, and home,” but she knows he tried to abort her but wound up damaging Ash's lungs, and that he allowed Ash to be arrested (251). Rowan screams at her dad and he picks up a tray, knocking Ellena out with it. He says he has arranged for Rowan to get out of the Center. Rowan says she wants to free all the others but he says it is not possible, unless she shuts down EcoPan entirely. Rowan remembers the earthquake that briefly shut down the computer system when she was outside Eden, and thinks she can accomplish that again.
