Summary

At the opening of Pages 200-249, the perspective changes to Jacqui. She goes upstairs where she changes the bandage on her arm and takes another antibiotic. She discovers Daphne, who is barely breathing. Jacqui realizes others in the neighborhood are probably in the same situation. Herb announces that he traded his truck for water. Jacqui and the others go to Henry's house. Henry pulls a gun but Kelton, realizing it is a toy, takes the gun from Henry. They watch a televised report of the situation, including mandatory evacuations in effect for many areas and a scene in which mobs of people are trying to make it to lakes in the region, though few are able to traverse the forest. Jacqui asks Kelton why he believes they can make it to the bug-out. Kelton says they are going a different direction.
