Chapter 8 Summary

The following day is a restday and while Menolly is feeding her fire lizards with Camo and Piemur, the gather flag rises at the hold. Piemur explains that this means vendors from all over will come and display their wares. Piemur is excited to buy hot pies and goods with the little money he has been saving for just such an event. Piemur promises to take Menolly and show her around. After feeding the fire lizards, Menolly goes inside and finds Sebell searching frantically for her to explain why his fire lizard is upset. Menolly tells him to feed the creature, but he cannot because his pants are falling down. Menolly gives Sebell her belt and then some meat to feed the creature with.
