Chapter 5 Summary

The next morning, Menolly is awoken by an angry Dunca who demands to know when Menolly snuck into the cot and why she has her fire lizards in the room. The fire lizards are upset by Dunca's anger and begin to fly around the room, causing Dunca to become frightened and more angry. Finally Dunca leaves Menolly to get dressed. At breakfast, Dunca continues to lecture Menolly about proper etiquette in the cot. Menolly eats quickly so she can go feed her fire lizards. After feeding the fire lizards with Camo, Menolly is directed to an archway room where the girls are already practicing their scales. Menolly grabs her gitar and joins the class.
