Chapter 3 Summary

Menolly goes to Master Jerint's workshop where she has been instructed to pick a gitar for her personal use until she can build one of her own. When Menolly arrives, Master Domick, the composition teacher, is there. Master Jerint and Master Domick admire Beauty, Menolly's fire lizard queen, commenting on the fire lizards' concert that morning. Everyone seems fascinated with the creatures. After a bit of conversation, Master Domick reminds Master Jerint why Menolly has come to his workshop. Menolly turns to the instrument. Master Domick watches as Menolly carefully tests and examines each instrument. Master Domick shows no reaction to the gitar Menolly chooses, but Master Jerint tells her she has made a good choice.
