Book 2, Chapter 3, The Trap and Chapter 4, A Peaceful Interlude Summary

Chapter Three opens in Bakaris' cell, in his point of view. He has been tormented by dreams of Kitiara and his impending death by his captures. Laurana, Flint and Tas come to take him out of the cell to trade him for Tanis. Flint lets it slip that they are trading Bakaris for Tanis and Bakaris is pleased. He has wanted revenge on Laurana for shooting him in the arm with an arrow long ago, and now he has his chance. He goes with them.

A draconian meets them at the city wall and tells them that they will have to go with Bakaris to Dragaard Keep. Once Bakaris is sure that the three do not have any weapons, he makes up a story to hurt Laurana...
