Book 1, Chapter 9, Victory Summary

In the opening of Chapter Nine, the good dragon army, lead by Laurana "The Golden General," are readying for battle. Flint and Tas have their own good dragon to ride upon, but Flint is having a hard time convincing himself to mount it, since dwarves have a natural aversion to horses, boats, and other things that move.

The dragon, Khirsah, also known as Fireflash, becomes impatient and decides to help the dwarf mount him. He grabs the kinder by the vest and plops him onto the riding saddle and extends a wing for Flint to use as a staircase to the saddle. Before Flint can grab the reigns, the dragon takes off. This is a clever ploy to keep the dwarf from controlling his flight patterns.
