Book 1, Chapter 8, The Oath of the Dragons Summary

The opening of Chapter Eight is a continuation of Chapter Seven. The dragons and their friendly riders have just landed in the city of Palanthas. The people have been reassured that the riders are friendly, but the people are still wary of their presents until Astinus comes from the library and tells them everything is fine.

The dragons are silver dragons, good dragons, ridden by Laurana's brother, Gilthanas and Silvara, and a silver dragon that has been transformed into a human because she is in love with Gilthanas. Astinus is narrating this part of the chapter and he notes that all he sees between the fallen dragon and her lover is anger, not love.
