Book 1, Chapter 6, Palanthas Summary

Chapter Six opens with the introduction of Tanis' old friends, Tasslehoff, a kinder, and Flint, a dwarf. The kinder is telling the dwarf about sighting Raistlin on the steps of the great library of Palanthas . Flint doesn't believe him and cautions Tasslehoff, Tas for short, not to tell Laurana, their friend, elf princess and Tanis' first love, about it, since she has enough to worry about.

As the two friends walk down the streets of the city, they become lost. They come upon a strange and dark road and the kinder decides to investigate out of curiosity. They realize that all of the buildings on the street, even the mansions, are empty. They both become frightened by the eeriness and bone-chilling coldness of the area. Flint wants to go back, but, ever curious, the kinder wants to keep exploring...
