Book 3 Dust Fall - Chapter 7 Summary

The Thread attack ends by high noon, just as F'lar predicted. When they return, Lessa checks to see that F'lar was not injured further. She organizes care of the wounded and comforts those who are worried. At final count, 28 men or dragons will be unavailable to fight for the next battle plus 4 more dragons and 7 men are out for a month. She heads to the sleeping chamber to give F'lar the news, but he's not there. She finds him in the Records room studying the musty skins when he should be sleeping. He can't sleep. "I need the answer to the very pressing question of how one under-strength Weyr can do the fighting of six." (p. 210) Lessa fights her own panic. She tells him that his charts and time schedules will help.
