Left alone to get cleaned up, Lessa wonders what it means to be Weyrwoman. Does F'lar mean his Weyrwoman? It wasn't the impression she had gotten from the bronze dragon. They must intend for her to be the Weyrwoman of the unhatched queen egg. She wracks her memory for what that entails. The Search brings a variety of women to the Weyr. Therefore, she is one of the women. Lessa gets cleaned up without fear of intrusion while F'lar feeds his dragon. Her skin and hair take several scrubbings before she dresses her slender frame in clothes too big for her. She catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror-like finish of polished bronze.
