Chapter 23 Summary

Seward, Harker and Van Helsing remain in Piccadilly while Arthur and Morris visit Dracula's other two houses. While they wait, a telegram from Mina arrives, warning them that she has seen Dracula leaving Carfax and heading south toward Piccadilly. Arthur and Morris return and announce that they have successfully found and destroyed twelve more boxes. The whereabouts of the final box is unknown.

Suddenly, the Count appears. Harker tries to strike him with a knife, but his foe is amazingly quick. Dracula scoops up a pile of money from the floor and hurls himself through a window. The others follow. Dracula turn and taunts them with promises of revenge and vanishes. Disheartened because they failed to kill Dracula and locate the final coffin, the men return to Mina.

The following day, Mina summons Van Helsing.....
