Summary

The colonel and Hercule question Miss Van Schuyler. She says she normally goes to bed at 10, but last night went to bed later because Cornelia kept her waiting. She says after she fell asleep, she heard the maid go into Mrs. Doyle's cabin. Then she heard someone on the deck and a splash. Miss Van Schuyler says it was 1:10 am when this occurred. She got up and looked out the window to see Miss Otterbourne dropping something overboard. The manager of the ship enters the room carrying a wet velvet cloth wrapped around a small pistol. Hercule says it's the pistol he saw Jackie with at the hotel when she was threatening to kill Linnet.
