Blue Fox

The blue fox is a shape-shifting creature who stalks and haunts the City landscape. None of the characters are exactly sure of his power, and are perpetually guessing where his loyalties lie. He appears to be a sort of leader, at times more friendly, at others dangerous and violent. In the latter half of the novel, Charlie X begins to believe that he himself is in fact the blue fox, that the blue fox is him. During Grayson's last encounter with the blue fox, the creature expands and explodes, turning into the atmosphere around it. Watching the fox's end, Grayson begins to understand his pain, the intense love he must have needed to house so many entities inside of him. His destruction, though violent, is beautiful.
