The Scientific Method

Because Jason is a scientist, many of the techniques he uses to solve problems in the lab bleed over into his everyday life. At various points in his journey, Jason turns to the scientific method in order to decide how best to handle a situation in which he has found himself. Not only is the scientific method used to help Jason deal with problems, but also, he and his psychiatrist friend Amanda turn to theories from aesthetics and psychology to help them understand why people they meet act as they do and why they react to certain situations in the way they do.
