Jason Dessen

Jason Dessen is the protagonist of Dark Matter and the narrator for some parts of the novel. He is the husband of Daniela Varga-Dessen and Charlie Dessen.

Even though Jason wonders what might have happened if he had been able to dedicate himself to his scientific research, he is happy with his life.

One day, Jason is kidnapped and transported to a different universe in which he did dedicate himself to science and created a box that had the ability to transfer people between versions of the universe.

Even though Jason feels the people in this alternate reality believe he is a different person, he remains committed to his belief that he is not a renowned scientist but instead the husband of Daniela and father of Charlie.
