Summary

The novel begins with a fictional author's note stating that what follows is an oral history created from interviews with members of the 1970s rock band Daisy Jones & The Six. The entire novel is narrated in an interview format, alternating between the words of the band members, and their associates and loved ones.

Part 1, “The Groupie Daisy Jones” (5) is centered around Daisy Jones and takes place in 1965-1972. Daisy was the daughter of a famous British painter and a French model, and grew up in the Hollywood Hills, completely neglected by her parents. She began sneaking into rock clubs on the Sunset Strip when she was 14 years old, meeting bands, and experimenting with drugs and alcohol.
