Randall Lawrence Waterhouse

Randy is an employee of the Three Siblings Computer Center at the opening of the book. Randy and Avi have founded a number of high tech companies which have gone bankrupt. Randy graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a degree in astronomy. He was a fantasy game player which is where he met Avi. He used his girlfriend Charlene's university computer account to write his first fantasy game program, which took a year to complete. Avi's employer bought the program.

Randy had moved to the Three Siblings area when Charlene began to teach there. He became known as a UNIX expert and then perfected his knowledge of networks. He went to work for Avi's San Francisco based fantasy game company, but it eventually failed. He forms the Epiphyte Corporation with Avi and goes to Manila to gather data and to promote the company...
