Chapters 11-12 Summary

Lucy discovers that someone changed Waddell's fingerprints in AFIS and then deleted someone else's records, implying that the other person's fingerprints are now the fingerprints identified as Waddell in AFIS. It appears that whoever did this was aware that Waddell's file would be deleted after his execution. However, there was a power failure and Waddell's file was not deleted as intended. Scarpetta decides they need to get a sample of Waddell's fingerprints from a source that could not be questioned. Scarpetta suggests they search Robyn Naismith's house for Waddell's fingerprints. Robyn Naismith's house was purchased by a university and rented to a professor. Most of the furniture is still in the house.
