Anatomy of Addiction

One of the main purposes of this book is to illustrate how quickly a person can become addicted to drugs and how far they will go to acquire drugs to feed their habit. Kristina is introduced to drugs while she is visiting her good-for-nothing father. It is important to keep in mind that Kristina has already witnessed first-hand the effects that crank can have on a person. She sees how her dad uses all his money buying drugs. He lives in a bug infested apartment with no cable television because his money goes to drugs. Kristina witnesses as he goes for 48 hours with no food and no sleep after snorting crank. She also sees his fall when he sleeps 18 hours straight. Despite this firsthand knowledge, however, Kristina does not think twice about trying the drug.
