Summary

“October. Ani’s apartment. Ani is being sponged in a bath by Eddie. A radio on. It plays quietly in the background” (59). Ani complains that Eddie never bathed her like this before – when they were together and she was uninjured. She also talks about being glad that he stayed over the past week, even though she used some pretty sharp words to him. She then makes sure the water is a good temperature for him, too. He tells her it is. As the bathing continues, Eddie’s hands seem to move in the direction of Ani’s genitalia. She suggests that he can continue touching her in that area, even though he hesitates. She adds that she does not feel that much in that area, commenting that her sexuality (like much of the rest of her life) lives only in her imagination.
