Summary

In Chapter 27, when Albert opened the door, the man holding the knife turned and recognized Anna as Sophie. The man grabbed Anna and reached for his knife, but Albert asked him not to kill her there. The man and Albert took Anna outside, leaving Fin. It was not until Anna saw Albert signaling the man with his eyes that she realized that they were working together. When Anna was shoved into the backseat of a car, she notes that “out of nowhere, a hill fell on us” (198).

In Chapter 28, Fin had driven Hamish’s car into the two men incapacitating them so that he and Anna could escape. As Fin drove away, he asked Anna to call the police, but Anna refused.
