Paris says that she was skeptical about co-starring in The Simple Life when first approached by the Fox Network, and her mother warned her that the show might be a ploy to make fun of her. Nevertheless, Paris decided to do it, because she realized that she would just be playing a role. She also thought it would be fun to work with her best friend, Nicole Richie.
