Summary

In Chapter 45, Tracy thought for a moment that she had been able to save Leah, like she had been unable to save her sister, but then she realized that she had been tricked. Owens ordered Tracy to drop the gun. Stanley moved forward to pick it up. Tracy put together that Trejo had been working for Owens. Stanley was involved because she had been taking the heroin for the pain in her back. Stanley explained that the doctors would not give her any more pain medicine. Taking heroin was the only way she could control the pain to get through her day. Her husband had left her and taken their daughter because he told her that she could either let them go or he would tell the Navy what she was doing.
