Summary

Holsten meets with the crew in the briefing room years later. Vitas welcomes him, but Holsten is hesitant to trust her. She reveals that Karst is the acting commander and introduces him to a ship born named Alpash who starts a comms meeting with Karst. The commander tells the crew everything they know about the planet and says they are going to fight for it. He asks Holsten to work on some unknown transmissions as the rest prepare. He also learns that he is the last living classicist and holds the last of history in his head. However, when Holsten looks at the transmissions, he is baffled by how many there are and how different they sound from Kern.
