Chapters 27 and 28 Summary

In Chapter 27, the crew stares at ultraviolet land dancing around in the cave. None of them knows what it is but Wardani says that they think the Martians could see better in ultraviolet light without any type of aid. When Wardani says she is only needed again when they are ready to close the gate, Hand says they'll be calling in a Wedge team now to take over the cave and that they won't be closing the gate of the Martian ship. Kovacs and Sutjiadi both feel a pulling sense coming from the Martian shuttle. Sutjiadi has an outburst suggesting that humans don't belong on any of these planets following in the footsteps of a race that the humans are not ready to understand - the Martians.
