Chapters 25 and 26 Summary

In Chapter 25, the crew notices the mass has emerged into large mechanical spiders that are moving around in self-built spider webs. Someone suggests they bomb the spiders, but someone else says they'll just adapt, but that bombing them will buy the crew some time so they can continue their mission to open the gate. Kovacs and Deprez share a bottle of whiskey while they watching the bombing of the spiders and their webs from a distance. They talk about the first time each of them killed someone. Schneider, Hansen and Cruickshank then join the party. As the party continues, Cruickshank makes a pass at Kovacs and they end up having sex. Cruickshank also tells Kovacs she has seen Schneider and Wardani sneaking off together, insinuating they are having sex. Kovacs is hearing a voice in his head, Semetaire's voice.
