Summary

"Words, 2009"

Jibril does everything quickly, even learning. While Dantala is still struggling to learn English, Jibril has mastered Arabic. Jibril helps Dantala learn English. Dantala notices that when Jibril goes to see his brother, Malam Abdul-Nur, he often returns with bruises. One day, Malam Abdul-Nur returns his radio to Dantala and gives him a phone as well. Jibril also receives a phone. Dantala listens to BBC Hausa and BBC English, often trying to compare them. He discovers that the Hausa phrase, “Association of Joining the World” corresponds to the English phrase, “United Nations.”
