Summary

In “Guts,” the narrator Sheila explains that ever since she started dating her boyfriend Tim, a med school student, she sees people with medical issues everywhere she goes. On a date in a movie theater, she is distracted by an old woman with a cane, and then believes she can see tumors growing in one man's brain. Nevertheless, she asks Tim to tell her everything about what he learns. After sleeping over, Tim drives Sheila to work in the morning, but she is early, so she sits on a nearby park bench to wait for the realty office where she is a receptionist to open.
