Summary

In Chapter 16, the hunting party departs from Kongor and rides south, in the direction of the boy’s location. Mossi and the buffalo have joined the group. Sogolon fears that Aesi is following them and will try to possess them. Tracker confronts Sogolon about apparent misinformation she supplied, such as the boy being Fumanguru’s son, but Sogolon refuses to speak to Tracker. Tracker and Mossi discuss the possibility that Omoluzu killed Fumanguru, but Tracker is not convinced. The party sets up camp at night. Tracker and Mossi stay awake, discuss life and religion. Tracker then wonders why he never thinks much about the boy and instead fixates only on the people and information tangentially connected to him. The next day, the party continues south, believing that they may find the boy in the kingdom of Dolingo. As they continue through the forest, they...
